Come join my family and I on our many adventures and follow Robin on her weight loss journey. I post tutorials and reviews on various subjects such as Premier Pro, the GoPro, Hotel Reviews, etc. You will also find covers that I have made using my Tyros 4, as well as original compositions.

The Johnny O Show

So the kids had been planning on going to Des Moines' first Comic Con for the past year, so we went to one day on Saturday, the 13th of June. It was pricey but (most) everyone was very excited to go.

Sadly, it was kind of a let down, but since it was Des Moines' first one, we'll let it slide. ;-) But there was some cool panels; Alex Kingston, Billy Dee Williams, and William Shatner.
The kids bought some neat souvenirs button pins, posters, Link hats. ;-) Brittain got an Adipose fat creature from Doctor Who. Ayden bought a Skyward Sword from The Legend of Zelda. There were a lot of cool things for sale - but we were broke from the admission. ;-P

We went and ate at Buzzard Billy's, which is a very good restaurant. Definitely recommend it if you're in town.
Overall, I think it was a nice day, especially for the kids since they got to spend some time together. -)

Ep. #215 Wizard World Comic Con - Des Moines, IA

***Click here to get $30 off of your first order of Home Chef http://... *** Another box of meals from our favorite food box company, Home Chef. The first meal Tiana prepared was the Sunday supper "pot roast" steak, with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, and peas. It was a really delicious, hearty meal. Robin gave it a 9, and I an 8. Both exceptional scores... Even Tiana enjoyed it. ;-)
This past summer we went camping with a group of friends and I thought it'd be a perfect opportunity to do some experimenting with my ham radio. Today I attempt using the mast of my sailboat as an antenna and the lake as a ground plane Subscribe: http://... Check out our site: http://... Finally got home and I was excited to give the kiddies and Robin their gifts. :-) Some of them they already knew about... because they picked them out. ;-) But as for the real surprises, they loved them as well and gave them a quick review, too. Overall, it was a pretty good trip. Subscribe: http://... Check out our site: http://... Facebook: http://... #thejohnnyoshow #johnorjias #Alaska
My last day in Alaska was spent at the Anchorage Museum at the Rasmuson Center. It had fascinating exhibits with copious amounts of culture, art, music and food. ;-) It was a very cool little museum... Definitely recommend a visit. http://... Subscribe: http://... Day 4 of my trip to Alaska, I got to take the Alyeska aerial tram all the way up the mount. Took a beautiful - but exhausting - hike to an observation tower stationed at the top. I got astonishingly gorgeous footage of the Alaskan landscape. A great last full day to spend there, getting the opportunity to appreciate the majesty of the mountains and foliage. Next day, I pack up and check out, and
So I took a 2 mile walk from my hotel to Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzeria. It was a Monday evening and it was packed; 40 minute wait for me to just get a seat at the bar. But it was definitely a good experience, and I think it was worth the wait. Subscribe: http://... Check out our site: http://... Got to take my first trip to Alaska for a WSLCA conference. During the day I got to explore and during the "night" was when I'd work. It would only be dark for really 30 minutes before it'd get light again. But so, I had plenty of time to get familiar with the area of Anchorage. Tired the 49th State Brewing Company - it was all pretty good and service was nice, so I definitely recommend it. I
My first field day, did not know what to expect, I ran my radio for the natural power points then we went back to the 100 watt radio inside the EOC. I made use of my 20ft PVC mast, it worked well. The 20 meter dipole antenna was resonate with out me having to make any adjustments. Subscribe: http://... Check out our site: http://... It's the day before Field Day, and I've been wanting to make this for awhile: my very own, homemade antenna mast. It's made from PVC pipe and couplers, and then 200ft of clothesline for guy-wires. This antenna mast is compact - all 20ft will condense down into a bag. I go through the idea and all the steps of how I made it and put it all together. Subscribe: http://... Check out our site:
I hook up and adjust my voltage regulator for my King Solar 60watt solar panel. When the panel is open fully, it does over 18 volts. So if you run your radio on that for too long, it'll damage the radio. So I talk about getting the most out of your King Solar panel with your radio. Subscribe: http://... Britty and I head up to Creston to check out the SWIARA Swap Meet in Creston, IA, but end up primarily playing the Vive. It was my first time ever trying any virtual reality platform, and I gotta say it was incredible. I only got to play Raw Data & Island 359, but both were phenomenal. I don't play video games much anymore, but VR brings back a lot of the excitement I had for gaming when I was
The day of Jacob and Nikki's graduation party finally arrived, and the American DJ Mini Dekker LZR gets brought out. The party's theme was glow-in-the-dark, with black lights, glow sticks, and fluorescent face paint and clothing. It was quite the production, and everyone had a great time. The laser turned out pretty well... however, still a little underwhelming. Congratulations, Nikki and Jake!
We didn't get much footage of our third day in Chicago, but we got plenty on our last day, spent at the Museum of Science & Industry. We had been there before, but we never had enough time to really enjoy it. The kids really enjoyed the flight simulator - in fact, they went twice. Tiana and Brittain also sat on the back of a cow, so I think they really enjoyed the day. :-) It was a nice little
Our first full day in Chicago: we take the subway into the heart of the city, and I pay $20 for a shoe shine by the one and only Shoe Shine King. I'll never live that down. ;-) We took a trolley tour of the city with our guide Daniel. We ate at one of the restaurants recommended on the tour: Portillo's. About half of us were disappointed, but the rest, especially Tiana and Britt, really enjoyed
This year's road trip to Chicago, Illions. The ride there was crazy as always, and our stop to eat at Pappadeaux was eventful - Robin & Mike get into it ;-) and we found a poor, dead baby Michelangelo. :-( And plenty of crazy experiences on our subway rides.
