The Johnny O Show

Traveling down the 101, our 44th day is spent at Thor's Well in Yachats, OR and exploring the beautiful surrounding area. But before that, we had a very interesting experience at a McDonald's in Florence - extremely nice and friendly people there. ;-)

Ep. #643 Our 12 Week Adventure | Day 44 - Thor's Well in Yachats, OR

Our 53rd day was spent doing some more exploring around the Avenue of the Giants. We spent the night in the Stafford RV park, and I gripe some more about the WiFiRanger and how terrible the Internet has been on this trip. :-/ As we depart from the RV park, we check out some very cool areas and shops, like the Burlwood Gallery, the Eternal Tree House, and of course we did some hiking at Founders
Our 52nd day was filled with quite a bit of exploring: we visited some "farm" buildings that once housed an early warning radar system and two anti-aircraft machine guns after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Then we stopped by the beach where the Klamath river meets the Pacific. And we even spotted some ocean *creature* riding a wave. ;-) What the animal was... you can be the judge of that. On our
Our 51st day was our last day in Klamath, California, and so we wanted to spend it at some beaches (and we tried to do some whale watching... but I'm not sure we saw any whales). We took the hiking trail to Hidden Beach, and it was a beautiful hike to a beautiful beach. Then we checked out a beach that we first spotted on our way into Klamath to finish our last night there. On our 50th day, we wanted to go back to the beautiful Trees of Mystery and check out the museum and also, drive through a tree. :-) Before that, though, we ate at “A GOOD PLACE TO EAT” - which is the Woodland Villa restaurant. It was very nice and quaint, and had a good selection of beer, yummy pizza, and friendly service. Then our visit to the museum was enjoyable, and trying to drive
So the second part of our 49th day focused on our hike down the Trees of Mystery Wilderness Trail... what a treacherous trail that was. It was an incredibly steep hike back down, and it took a lot of energy and time. I still think it's worth it, though. The Trees of Mystery was very enjoyable experience for us. Then we got to see the incredible Redwood carvings on the Trail of Tall Tales, and
During the first part of the 49th day of our trip, we visit the Trees of Mystery near Kamp Klamath. It was a very beautiful adventure through the Redwood forest, seeing all the incredible trees and nature. Then we took the gondola to the top, and decided we’d be able to do the hike down to the bottom. So you’ll see how we do in part 2. ;-) Towing a Rockwood Geo Pro with a Honda Pilot
Day 48 we finally left the state of Oregon and headed on our way to California. We admire the ocean on our drive to our next campground - which is a complete dream. We got a site for $20 a day at Kamp Klamath right in the beautiful Redwood Forest, very close to the beach. AND we have USABLE INTERNET. :-D So we drove to the beach and the High Bluff Overlook and did some exploring of the beautiful
Our 47th day was spent exploring the Brookings, OR area: we visit Arch Rock and enjoy the view there. Then just a few turns away is a little parking area to hike down to Secret Beach, but... why can't I find it? It took quite a bit of investigating to figure it out, but I finally did. So, if you're as confused as I was, here's some pointers. After the attempts to reach the Secret Beach, we go to
Our 46th day was a "take it easy" day: we mostly stayed in or around the Turtle Rock RV resort. I got some work done, and all four of us (doggies included) are missing home quite a bit. The night before we ate dinner at the Tortuga Mexican Bar and Grill, which was pretty good... but we miss Sombrero. ;-) And then tonight we tried the Hunter Creek Bar & Grill (in the video I mistakenly call it
Our 45th day I show you around the pretty awesome Turtle Rock RV resort we stayed at in Gold Beach, OR - some of the sites even have their own hot tubs. :-) And we of course visit the beach and see Turtle Rock up close. Unfortunately, it was incredibly windy, and I didn't really enjoy getting blasted by sand. But, it wasn't a bad day. ;-) Towing a Rockwood Geo Pro with a Honda Pilot Subscribe:

We started our 43rd day at Depoe Bay in Lincoln City. Robin wanted to see the Devils Punchbowl in action, but we went at low tide because people normally hike to it... Robin definitely did not want to do that. So, we departed from Depoe Bay and headed toward Newport to visit the sea lions. And visit them we did. There were dozens upon dozens of sea lions surrounding and sunbathing on the docks
Our 42nd day also marked our being 5,000 miles into our trip - hopefully this is over the halfway point. ;-) We visit the beach in Lincoln City, and then enjoy the beautiful Cape Kiwanda and the Haystack Rock in Pacific City, OR. Which the drive there was a little disconcerting, as we passed sign after sigh making us aware that we were entering a tsunami zone. :-/ But once we arrived, we focused
For our 41st day, we take to the Historic Columbia River Highway - and we visit every waterfall that we can. It was a day filled with lots of beauty (and water): we saw Horsetail Falls, Multnomah Falls, Wahkeena Falls, Shepperd's Dell Falls, and Latourell Falls. Multnomah Falls was our most favorite, and we recommend visiting that one the most if you want to see an impressive waterfall. Then we
The 40th day of our trip is spent traversing the beautiful "City of Roses," Portland, OR. We head to the Washington Park MAX Station to take advantage of Portland's [inexpensive] public transportation. We explore the gorgeous International Rose Test Garden & Shakespeare Garden. We wanted to check out the Portland Japanese Garden, but it cost $17 each, but we've seen plenty of phenomenal nature for
For our 39th day, we travel from Seaside through Astoria, Oregon; the hometown of The Goonies. We ate at the Rusty Cup, which was a delightful place with good coffee and delicious sandwiches. Robin was very happy with it. :-) Then we longingly drive past The Goonies house. Then we reach our destination for the night - Battle Ground, Washington. Yes, we're back in Washington. But I go over some
